WALTHAM, Mass.-- Junior Max Vigliotti (Stamford, Conn.) and sophomore Ryan Halloran (Tyngsboro, Mass.) each collected three hits as part of a 17-hit attack to lift Stonehill to a 10-0 nightcap victory over Bentley and a sweep of a Northeast-10 Conference baseball doubleheader Saturday afternoon at DeFelice Field, as the Skyhawks took the opener by a 7-1 final.

The visiting Skyhawks (23-11, 17-3 Northeast-10) tied the school record for consecutive victories with their 12th straight triumph, matching the mark first set in 1980, as senior Brian Nelson (Greenville, R.I.) allowed just one hit over seven innings while fanning two to improve to 4-0 on the season with the nightcap win for Stonehill. The visitors got all of the runs they would need in the second game in the fourth by plating five tallies on RBI doubles by seniors Sean Lawrence (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and T.J. Piscatelli (Norfolk, Mass.) as well as RBI singles off the bats of Vigliotti and junior Adam Pardo (Hanover, Mass.). The Skyhawks added five more runs over the final three innings, including Lawrence's second RBI double of the contest in the seventh and an RBI single in the ninth by sophomore Dustin Crossman (Raynham, Mass.) that sandwiched RBI singles by Piscatelli and Pardo, along with an RBI groundout by sophomore Matt Orr (Wilton, Conn.), in the eighth. Lawrence, Piscatelli, Pardo and senior Coley Lyons (West Roxbury, Mass.) each had two hits in the nightcap win for Stonehill, which now has a two-game loss column lead in the Northeast-10 standings over UMass Lowell, Franklin Pierce and Southern Connecticut.

The Skyhawks jumped out to a 3-0 third inning lead in the opener on a two-run single by Lyons coupled with a throwing error, and after the host Falcons (14-18-1, 8-13 Northeast-10) got on the board in the sixth on an RBI groundout off the bat of junior Tom Haugh (Andover, Mass.), Stonehill added four insurance tallies in the ninth, taking advantage of four Bentley errors as well as a sacrifice fly by junior Matt Vaughn (Bow, N.H.) and an RBI single by sophomore David Fradette (Goffstown, N.H.). Lawrence had two of the visitors' seven hits in the opener, as senior All-America Billy Sittig (West Roxbury, Mass.) scattered nine hits and fanned four to improve to 6-2 on the mound with a complete-game effort for Stonehill. Haugh and freshman Kevin Vona (Belmont, Mass.) each had two hits in the opening game setback, as freshman Tim Cadran (Greenfield, Mass.) suffered the first game defeat on the mound for Bentley, while sophomore Joe Herzog (Cheshire, Mass.) took the second game setback with seven innings of work for the Falcons.

Stonehill and Bentley are scheduled to close out a three-game Northeast-10 weekend set on Sunday afternoon at Gorman Field beginning at 1:00 p.m.
