EASTON, Mass.-- Junior Tom Aldrich (New Canaan, Conn.) rapped out a career-high four hits, while fellow junior Max Vigliotti (Stamford, Conn.) drove in three runs as Stonehill extended its winning streak to nine straight with a 7-0 Northeast-10 Conference baseball victory over Assumption Tuesday afternoon at Gorman Field.

The host Skyhawks (20-11, 14-3 Northeast-10) are enjoying their longest win skein in six years, as Stonehill last won nine straight in April 2000 en route to their last league title. The hosts also reached the 20-win plateau for the ninth straight season, all of which have come under the tutelage of Head Coach Patrick Boen.

Vigliotti's two-run double that was followed by an RBI single off the bat of sophomore David Fradette (Goffstown, N.H.) in the bottom of the first gave the Skyhawks all the runs they would need on the day to support senior Joe Breen (Swampscott, Mass.) on the mound, as Breen retired the first 17 batters he faced before a hit batsman broke up his perfect game, and the visiting Greyhounds (7-24, 4-12 Northeast-10) broke up Breen's no-hit bid on a lead-off single by freshman Mike Baillargeon (Worcester, Mass.) in the seventh. Breen scattered three hits over eight innings and struck out six to improve to 5-0 on the season for Stonehill, as he has now thrown 19 2/3 straight scoreless innings.

The Skyhawks added single runs in the fifth and sixth frames on Fradette's second RBI single of the day as well as a throwing error, and Stonehill closed out the scoring with a pair of runs in the seventh on Vigliotti's RBI triple and a pinch-hit single off the bat of junior Blake Marston (Concord, N.H.). Vigliotti, Fradette and senior Coley Lyons (West Roxbury, Mass.) each had two hits as part of a 13-hit attack for the hosts, who also received singles from senior T.J. Piscatelli (Norfolk, Mass.) and junior Adam Pardo (Hanover, Mass.).

Baillargeon and senior Matt Cavallaro (West Haven, Conn.) each had singles in the setback for Assumption, which also received a double off the bat of sophomore Devin Murphy (Waterbury, Conn.). Sophomore Dan Sargent (Lowell, Mass.) allowed just one earned run in six innings of work for the Greyhounds, striking out four to fall to 1-1 on the season.

Stonehill and Assumption meet again on Thursday afternoon in Worcester, Mass. beginning at 3:30 p.m., but the Greyhounds will host Southern New Hampshire in a Northeast-10 outing on Wednesday afternoon in Worcester that begins at 3:00 p.m.
