EASTON, Mass. (December 10, 2009) -Stonehill College is ranked 24th in the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup fall standings as released by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) today.

The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was created by NACDA and USA Today, to judge schools on their overall athletic achievements. Schools receive points for their team's finish nationally in up to 14 sports. Grand Valley State leads the Division II standings following the fall report with 290 points

Stonehill earned 129 points this fall for rankings in men's cross country, women's cross country and field hockey. Stonehill earned 55 points for field hockey after its third-place finish at the NCAA Tournament, serving as host for the Championships for the first time last month. Women's cross country placed 16th at the NCAA Division II Championships for 42 points, while men's cross country placed 21st at the NCAA Championships for 32 points.

The Skyhawks rank second in the Learfield Cup standings among Northeast-10 Conference members, trailing just third-place University of Massachusetts Lowell (210 points).

After ranking 67th in the fall report last year, Stonehill ended the 2008-2009 season with 301 points, ranking 57th overall. Stonehill's best final standings in the Directors' Cup was 27th place in 2005-2006.
