Rolando Lopes returns for his second season as Head Women's Soccer Coach at Stonehill College after enjoying a highly successful first year on the sidelines in 2005. Lopes guided the Skyhawks to their highest single-season win total in four years last fall with an overall mark of 8-4-4, including a 6-4-4 slate in always-rugged Northeast-10 Conference play, as Stonehill posted a season-opening six-match unbeaten streak, the longest suchg skein for the program in five years.

A high-octane offense that produced over two-and-a-half goals per match made for great excitement in 2005, and Lopes is looking to that over into the 2006 campaign. His efforts helped four Skyhawks earn all-conference accolades last fall, as recent graduates Kate McCarthy ‘06 and Nicole Vailas ‘06 and returning juniors Lauren Boyd ‘08 and Alex Eckhardt ‘08, were honored for their standout performances by the league's coaches.

A native of Brockton, Mass., Lopes brought a wealth of experience to Stonehill, as he has been a prominent figure in both youth and college soccer in the Metro South area. In his two seasons as co-Head Women's Soccer Coach at Massasoit Community College in Brockton, Lopes helped guide the Warriors to the National Junior College Athletic Association New England Championship. Additionally, he has served as the Girls Coaching Director for the South Shore Select squad in Rockland, Mass.

A 1998 graduate of UMass Dartmouth with a degree in electrical engineering, Lopes was a team captain for the Corsairs and earned a chancellor's scholarship during his matriculation. He earned an associate of science degree in electronics technology from Massasoit in 1993 and was an NJCAA All-America and Student-Athlete of the Year for the Warriors in that same year. Rolando was also named as the South Shore Select Soccer Club Coach of the Year in both 2001 and 2004.

Lopes resides in Brockton.
