Donald “Pro” Prohovich was a true student/athlete. Maintaining nearly a 3.8 grade point average over four years, Donald made himself one of Stonehill’s best baseball players. A second baseman, Donald earned COSIDA Academic All American honors. He batted .441 and established a Stonehill-record with 11-game winning hits. A 1970 graduate of Bridgewater-Raynham where he played basketball and baseball, Donald was a 1980 graduate of Stonehill. He went on to study dentistry at Georgetown University. A magna cum lade graduate of Stonehill, Donald played second base for the Chieftains and earned first-team All New England honors as a junior and second-team honors as a senior. At 6-4 he was called “the biggest second baseman in baseball,” but his size didn’t diminish his fielding skills.

He and shortstop Bob Wooster combined for a record 35 infield double plays, a mark which still stands. During his record-breaking junior year, the Chieftains had their best-ever record (24-5) and were ECAC Champions. Donald was also selected to the All District First-Team. He lives in Easton with his wife Sheryl (Hoey) Prohovich and their son, Kyle Patrick Prohovich.
