A 1982 graduate, Tom Dean was a classic point guard for the Chieftains during their early years in the Northeast-10 Conference. He holds the all-time career assist record with 559, and single-game record of 17 set against New Hampshire College in a triple-overtime victory at Manchester. During his three-year career, Dean scored 482 points. In 1980, the Chieftains won the Bentley Holiday Classic and Dean was named Most Valuable Player. He played the full 80 minutes in the two victories and did not have a turnover. During his career, the Chieftains were 60-28 overall and won back-to-back Conference Championships in his junior and senior years. The Chieftains made three consecutive NCAA post season tournaments. Dean and his family live in Hope Valley, R.I.
