IHSA Hunter Seat/Collegiate Cup National Champions Zone 1, Region 4 Champions • Zone 1 Champions
The 2003 Stonehill equestrian team captured its first national title in the Hunter Seat/Collegiate Cup standings at the IHSA National Championships, hosted by Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Stellar individual efforts by Sarah Muller and Tom Brennan helped carry Stonehill to the championship as both also brought home individual national titles in the walk trot canter and intermediate fences, respectively. Stonehill edged Findlay (Ohio) for the team championship. Dyanna Rucco and Shannon Tibbits were reserve national champions in open and novice fences, while Brennan added a third place finish for intermediate flat and Kelsey Amedeo was fourth in open flat. Erin Fletcher was honored for her excellence in the classroom as an IHSA Scholar during the three-day competition. Stonehill claimed its first national championship after also taking top honors in IHSA Zone 1, Region 4 for the second straight year and then tied Brown for the top spot at the Zone 1 Championships.
