Stonehill to Recognize Fred C. Petti Academic Award Recipients Tuesday Night

EASTON, Mass. (December 4, 2009) - Stonehill College has announced that it will recognize its Fred C. Petti individual and team academic award winners for the 2008-09 academic year during its home basketball doubleheader against rival Bentley University on Tuesday, December 8. The presentation will be held at halftime of the men's basketball game set to tip off at 7:30 p.m. The Skyhawk women will face Bentley at 5:30 p.m.

The Fred C. Petti individual academic award is presented to one male and female student-athlete with the highest grade point average for the fall and spring semesters combined per academic year. Recipients of the 2008-2009 awards are junior Amanda Tripodi (Darien, Conn./Darien), a member of the cross country and indoor/outdoor track & field teams, junior Kayla Schneider (Vernon, Conn./Rockville) from equestrian and juniors Vincent Catricala (Rocky Hill, Conn./Rocky Hill) and Tyler Hebert (Rockland, Mass./Sacred Heart) from the men's soccer team.

The Fred C. Petti team academic award is given to the athletic teams with the highest GPA for the fall and spring semesters combined per academic year. Recipients of the 2008-2009 awards are women's soccer, men's soccer, and men's track and field.

The Stonehill men's and women's basketball teams are also in action at Merkert Gym tomorrow to host Southern New Hampshire. The women (7-2, 3-0 NE-10) tip off against the Penmen at 1:30 p.m., with the men (4-1, 3-0 NE-10) to follow at approximately 3:30 p.m.

Admission for all Stonehill basketball games is $7.00 for adults and $4.00 for students and senior citizens. The all home games are also webcast live via www.stonehillskyhawks.tv for $6.99.
