The Details

  • Early in the first, it was UMass Lowell who would strike first after a Brookshire goal at the 13-minute mark (13:23).
  • Shortly after the goal, the Skyhawks had a chance for the equalizer as Hannah Anselmo sent a shot toward Burgess that ended up missing.
  • A couple of minutes later, the River Hawks, struck again to double their advantage after Papatheodoru found the back of the net in the 25th minute (25:58). Not long after, Papatheodoru struck again at 28:57 to make it 3-0.
  • From that point, both sides battled and Stonehill had yet another chance to get on the board when Lauren Clement ripped a shot that was stopped by Burgess. A couple of minutes later, Emmy Dumaresq had a chance herself but saw her shot go just wide right.
  • At the beginning of the second half (51:34) Anselmo had the best look of the night for Stonehill when she sent a shot that was out of Burgess' reach but unfortunately the ball caught the crossbar.
  • Later in the half, Papatheodoru recorded the hat trick at the 52-minute mark when she knocked in a header that went past Durham.
  • Both sides continued back-and-forth play for most of the half but at the 65th minute (65:06), Layne netted the River Hawks fifth and final goal of the evening.
  • Overall on the night, Durham finished with a new career-high eight saves as she faced 29 total shots on the evening. Clement and Meghan Lord were the two other Skyhawks tied with Anselmo in the team-lead shots with two.
