Skyhawks Will Play Six Home Contests; Three Will Be Played at W.B. Mason Stadium

EASTON, Mass. (July 25, 2022)-The Stonehill College women's soccer program and head coach Alex Wilson have announced their 2022 schedule for the upcoming fall. Stonehill will play six home games including three contests at W.B. Mason Stadium along with nine Northeast Conference matchups. 

After a preseason exhibition tuneup with Holy Cross (Thursday, August 11 at 2 p.m.), the Skyhawks open up the year on the road with three non-conference opponents with their first matchup coming against the University of Hartford on Friday, August 19 for a 5 p.m. start time. Stonehill then heads west to Colorado for two games hosted by the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs versus Adams State University and the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs on Friday, August 26 at 6:30 p.m., and Sunday, August 28 at 2 p.m. respectively to wrap up the month. The road trip continues at the beginning of September with two out-of-conference games at UMass Lowell on Thursday, September 1 at 7 p.m. and Molloy College on Sunday, September 4 at noon. 

After another road matchup at Bryant University (Thursday, September 8- 7 p.m.), the Skyhawks host the University of Vermont for their first-ever Division I home game on Sunday, September 11 at 1 p.m. at W.B. Mason Stadium. Stonehill plays their second of three contests at W.B. Mason Stadium hosting Sacred Heart University for the purple and white's Northeast Conference opener on Thursday, September 15 at 3 p.m. Stonehill finishes their non-conference slate of games for September by traveling to Monmouth University on Sunday, September 18 at 1 p.m. The month of September finishes up with two Northeast Conference games with a home contest with Long Island University on Thursday, September 22 at 3 p.m. followed by a road matchup with Central Connecticut State University on Sunday, September 25 at 6 p.m. 

In their final month of play, the Skyhawks start off with a three-game Northeast Conference road trip against Merrimack College (Sunday, October 2- 1 p.m.), Saint Francis (Pa.) University (Sunday, October 9- noon), Wagner College (Thursday, October 13- 7 p.m.), and a non-conference road match at Brown University (Tuesday, October 18- 7 p.m.). The regular season concludes with three Northeast Conference home contests starting with Howard University at W.B. Mason Stadium on Thursday, October 20 at 7 p.m. The final two regular season games are Senior Day on Sunday, October 23 versus St. Francis College Brooklyn at 11 a.m. and finally a Thursday afternoon match against Fairleigh Dickinson University at 3 p.m.

On the year, the Skyhawks concluded their final Division II season with an 8-8-2 record overall, including 5-6-2 in the NE10, to finish ninth in the NE10 regular-season standings. The Skyhawks won five of their last eight (5-2-1) and four of six (4-1-1), including a 3-2 victory over a regionally ranked Saint Anselm squad on October 30. Ten of Stonehill's 18 matches were decided by a single goal, with the Skyhawks going 5-5 in those contests.
