How it Happened

  • Harvard staked out a three-goal lead less than six minutes into the game behind two goals from Hem and Hodgson's first, but Stonehill answered with the next two goals in the final five minutes of the quarter to close back within a goal after Conway's first of the game, assisted by Hughes, with 1:46 remaining.
  • Harvard aimed to break the game open, scoring the first three of the second frame, including two by Campbell, to open a four-goal lead (6-2), but senior All-American Lydia Rudden gave Stonehill life at the intermission with her 14th goal of the season just before the buzzer.
  • Harvard would continue to stretch its lead in the second half, scoring the first two goals of the third quarter, both assisted by Hem, to take a five-goal advantage (8-3) less than three minutes in.
  • Hughes stopped the run initially with 6:05 to play in the third, but Campbell had a hand in the next two goals with a goal and assist, as the Crimson extended the lead to six (10-4) before Conway capped the quarter scoring with 11-seconds left, assisted by Hughes, to draw the Skyhawks within five (10-5) heading to the fourth.
  • The teams traded goals by Hem and Conway over the first nine minutes of the fourth, but Mullahy and Hodgson sealed the win with goals over the closing five minutes.
  • Stonehill finished with an 11-10 edge in draw controls, including 10-2 in the second half (5-0 in the fourth quarter alone), but committed 13 of their 24 turnovers in the final half, including ten in the fourth quarter alone, to thwart a comeback try. The Skyhawks were thus held to just one shot in the final 15 minutes.
