Franklin Pierce Sweeps Singles to Defeat Men's Tennis, 7-2

Bisazza and Schadt lead Ravens to victory as double-winners

RINDGE, N.H. (March 17, 2018) – Franklin Pierce University swept the six singles matches after dropping two of three doubles matches to claim a 7-2 victory over Stonehill College in Northeast-10 Conference men's tennis action inside the Grimshaw-Gudewicz Activity Center today.

Juniors James Bisazza (West Barnstable, Massachusetts/Barnstable) and Andrew Schadt (Tolland, Connecticut/Tolland) led the way for Franklin Pierce as double winners. The duo earned the Ravens lone doubles win with their 8-3 decision at No. 2. Bisazza followed that up with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles against Stonehill sophomore Manu Ravichandrakumar (Chennai, India/Saddlebrook Prep (Fla.)), while Schadt clinched the deciding point in the dual match with his 6-3, 6-1 win over sophomore Aaron Diamond (Moultonborough, New Hampshire/Moultonborough Academy) at No. 4 singles.

Senior Jeffrey Gagnon (Providence, Rhode Island/The Wheeler School) and freshman Joey Conrod (Newtown, Connecticut/Newtown) clinched a 2-1 Stonehill edge after doubles play with their 9-8 (7-5) triumph at No. 3 doubles. Seniors Thomas Bellio (Saint Joseph, Michigan/Saint Joseph) and Nikolay Lisichenok (Danvers, Massachusetts/Danvers) registered an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles for the Skyhawks.

Freshman Roberto Chong (Puigpunyent, Spain) and sophomore Yuval Barak (Zicron Ya'akov, Israel) help fuel the Franklin Pierce rally with their wins at No. 1 singles and No. 3 singles, respectively, around Bisazza and Schadt's wins at No. 1 and 4.

Stonehill (7-4, 1-1 NE10) is off until next Saturday, March 24, when it hosts regionally-ranked Southern New Hampshire University at 1 p.m. Please note that Tuesday's regularly scheduled match at Assumption College has been postponed until Friday, April 13. Franklin Pierce (6-3, 3-0 NE10) visits Eckerd College on Monday at 10 a.m.
