Rudowitz Named NE-10 Player of the Week

Monroe Township, N.J., native honored for second time over his career

EASTON, Mass. (November 30, 2009) - Stonehill College senior forward A.J. Rudowitz (Monroe Township, N.J./Monroe Township) has been named the Northeast-10 Men's Basketball Player of the Week by the Conference office this afternoon.

Rudowitz, who earns the award for the first time this season (second career), averaged a double-double in leading Stonehill to a pair of wins to open its Northeast-10 schedule last week. He averaged 21.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.0 blocked shots and a steal in 30.5 minutes per game over the Skyhawks two contests. He shot 61.5-percent (16-for-26) from the field, making his lone three-point attempt, while converting 10-of-14 (71.4%) free-throws for the week.

Rudowitz, a first team All-Northeast-10 selection last season, led Stonehill to a 65-60 win over NE-10 preseason favorites Merrimack College on Tuesday with a season-best 24 points and a career-high matching 15 rebounds for his first double-double of the season (12th career) to go with four assists and three blocked shots. He made 9-of-13 shots from the field and converted 6-of-7 free-throws for the night, scoring 17 second half points as the Skyhawks erased a 16-point first half and 11-point second half deficit to record the win. Rudowitz followed that effort up with a game-high 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field (1-1 from three) and a 4-of-7 effort at the line to go with nine rebounds and two steals in Sunday's 71-59 win at Saint Michael's College.

Rudowitz ranks second in the NE-10 with 21.5 points per game so far this season to go with 9.3 rebounds (6th NE-10) and 1.3 blocked shots (9th) in 31.8 minutes per game. He is shooting 61.1-percent (33-for-54) from the field (11th), including 2-for-4 from beyond the arc, while shooting 72% (18-25) at the free-throw line. Rudowitz ranks third among NE-10 leaders with 6.8 defensive rebounds per contest.

Rudowitz moved into 20th place on Stonehill's all-time scoring list last week with his 1,200 career points. In addition to his 12 career double-doubles, he has scored in double-figures 69 times in his collegiate career, including ten 20 point outings. He has reached double-figures for rebounding 14 times.

Stonehill (3-1, 2-0 NE-10) is back in action on Wednesday when it visits Saint Anselm College for an NE-10 matchup at 7:30 p.m. The Skyhawks close out the week with a home battle with Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday in Merkert Gymnasium at 3:30 p.m.
