Sydney Maxey To Author VolleyBlog For Third-Straight Season


EASTON, Mass. (September 11, 2012) - Junior outside hitter Sydney Maxey (Hutto, Texas/Hutto) will be blogging about the Stonehill College women's volleyball team for the third-straight season. Follow all the action through Sydney's blog all year long.

Sydney's first edition discusses the team's trip to the Frankowski household along with Stonehill's trip to Michigan and some fun in downtown Chicago.

Volleyball fans, make sure to check out Sydney's blog throughout the season as the Skyhawks look to make their second-straight trip to the NCAA Division II Tournament after earning their first-ever trip to the NCAA's last fall.

Sydney, an English major at the College, has played in 237 career sets (counting this season), compiled 621 kills (2.62 p/s), 850 digs (3.59 p/s), 69 service aces and 63 blocks. Sydney was a key member of the squad last year that tied the program record for most wins in a single-season (27-8, 1996) as Stonehill finished with a 27-7 record overall and 14-1 mark in NE-10 play.

Stonehill (2-3 overall/0-0 NE-10) will host "Orange Night" tonight in Merkert Gymnasium at 7 p.m. against Assumption College to promote Leukemia & Lymphoma Awareness in memory of Henry Thevenin, '14.

The event will look to support the Stonehill College football team in its efforts to honor Henry Thevenin "H-LUV" while raising awareness of leukemia and lymphoma. Donations will be accepted at the match and also online for "Team H-LUV" who will participate in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light the Night Walk on Thursday, October 11th.
