EASTON, Mass. (March 9, 2020) – The Stonehill College women's and men's track & field head coach Michael Delgado has been named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) East Region Women's Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year, as announced by the organization on last week.

Delgado, who returned to Stonehill Athletics in August 2018 as the men's and women's cross country and track & field assistant coach, was promoted to the Head Coach of men's and women's track & field programs in June 2019. This USTFCCCA East Region Women's Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year is his first recognition from the association.

Three weekends ago, Delgado led the women's team to their seventh-straight Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship. On Friday, February 21 at the Reggie Lewis Center, the women totaled 152.50 points, 54.5 points ahead of runner-up Assumption College who combined for 98 points. In the two-day meet, Stonehill earned 11 individual All-Conference honors and one relay accolade, while there were two individual titles.

The quartet of seniors Alyssa Freeman, Claire Hurtado, sophomore Claire Mason, and junior Jillian Howard ran in the 4000-meter distance medley relay where they finished first with a time of 12:17.07. He also assisted in there NEICAAA champions, four ECAC champions, six NCAA outdoor regional qualifiers, two NCAA Indoor Championship qualifiers, and two NCAA Outdoor Championship qualifiers. He also saw the women's track & field team to three Patriot League Championships during his tenure, two women's cross country titles, and one men's.
