WORCESTER, Mass. (December 5, 2017) – Stonehill College rode 16 three-pointers to back-to-back wins for the first time this season after a 76-65 triumph over Assumption College in Northeast-10 Conference men's basketball action at Andrew Laska Gymnasium tonight.

Sophomore guard Brandon Twitty (Randolph, Massachusetts/Catholic Memorial) drained half of Stonehill's three-point field goals on his way to the first 30-point game of his career, scoring a game-high 32 points on 10-of-29 shooting from the field, including 8-for-12 from beyond the arc, converting all four of his free-throws, while collecting four rebounds.

Classmate Will Moreton (Minneapolis, Minnesota/Edina) reached double figures for the eighth time in nine games for Stonehill this season, adding 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds, with three assists and two steals. Senior KJ Lee (Huntington Station, New York/Long Island Lutheran) rounded out the Skyhawks double-figure scorers with 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting, five boards, four assists and a blocked shot, while freshman Owen Chose (Eden Prairie, Minnesota/Eden Prairie) chipped in eight points on 3-of-5 shooting (2-for-4 from three) and two assists in 15 minutes off the bench.

Sophomore Branislav Vujadinovic (Belgrade, Serbia) led Assumption with 16 points on 6-of-16 shooting, including 4-for-9 from three-point distance, to go with five rebounds and two assists. Classmate Patrick Fleming (Dobbs Ferry, New York/Iona Prep) notched a double-double without missing a shot, with 11 points on 5-of-5 shooting, including a three-pointer, with a game-high ten rebounds, two assists and a steal. Freshman Bryan Boehlert (Gaithersburg, Maryland/Magruder) contributed 11 points, aided by 3-of-5 shooting from three, in 17 minutes off the bench, while classmate Matthew Kelly (North Potomac, Maryland/Quince Orchard) chipped in with six points, six assists and two boards.

Stonehill jumped out to a quick lead, scoring ten of the first 12 points in the contest, including back-to-back three-pointers from Twitty and Chose to start the game, as four different players had baskets for the Skyhawks during the opening six and a half minute stretch. Assumption scored the next 12 points on four-straight three-pointers by three different players, including two-straight from Vujadinovic, to grab a four-point lead (14-10) with 11:36 remaining in the first half.

Stonehill used a 9-2 spurt over the next two minutes to reclaim the lead (19-16) after a Lee triple. Twitty canned back-to-back three-pointers over a four-minute span to stretch the Skyhawks lead to seven with 4:25 remaining in the half and then gave the visitors a nine point lead (28-19) with his sixth three of the half with 2:54 left, a margin they would carry into halftime.

Moreton opened the second half with a three-pointer to push the Stonehill lead into double-figures and the Skyhawks added three more triples, including two more from Moreton, to stretch their lead to 16 (43-27) two and a half minutes into the frame. Stonehill's first five baskets of the second half came from beyond the arc, with Twitty and senior Joel Berroa (Lawrence, Massachusetts/Bridgton Academy) also connecting for the Skyhawks.

A Moreton dunk and three-pointer by senior Paul Graves (Marion, Massachusetts/Old Rochester Regional) provided Stonehill with a pair of 18 point leads midway through the half. The Skyhawks led by 17 (70-53) after another Twitty triple with 2:48 to play, when Assumption made one last run, pulling within nine (70-61) after a Vujadinovic three-pointer with 1:26 left. Lee, Twitty and Moreton combined to drain all six free-throw attempts for the Skyhawks down the stretch to keep the Greyhounds and bay and seal the win.

Stonehill (4-5, 3-3 NE10) is back in action on Saturday, when it visits No. 14/18 Southern New Hampshire University for its final NE10 matchup of the semester at 3:30 p.m. The Skyhawks do not return to Merkert Gym until Wednesday, January 3, to host American International College for an NE10 battle at 7:30 p.m. Assumption (1-8, 0-6 NE10) hosts Franklin Pierce University on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
