Shepard struck out three of the five batters he faced, walking just one, over the final 1.1 innings to notch his fourth save of the season. He entered the game with runners on first and second with two out and ended the threat with a strikeout of the Post cleanup batter.

Senior Angelo Bruno (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) was 1-for-3 with a home run, while James DeAlto finished 2-for-2 with a run scored. Junior Steven Popp (Unionville, Conn./Farmington) hit 1-for-2 for the Skyhawks.

Senior righthander Dan Steers (Stoneridge, N.Y.) took the loss on the mound (1-1) for the Eagles, allowing the two earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts and a walk in the complete game.

Bruno gave Stonehill the only run it would need when he led off the bottom of the second inning with his team-leading fourth home run of the season. The Skyhawks doubled their lead in the third as DeAlto beat out an infield single, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and ground out and then scored on a wild pitch.

Post's best scoring chance came in the third as it loaded the bases with one out, but Haughn escaped the jam with a double play.
