EASTON, Mass. (January 22, 2019)– Stonehill College has announced its Athletic Director's Honor Roll for the Fall 2018 semester, recognizing 192 student-athletes who have earned a semester grade point average of 3.20 or higher. Each of Stonehill's intercollegiate athletic programs were represented on this semester's list, with about 44-percent of our 432 student-athletes making the list.

Leading the way with 36 student-athletes recognized was the football team. Not far behind was women's track and field (33), women's soccer (18), men's soccer (15), and women's cross country (15). The women's cross country team saw nearly 88-percent of their roster named to the Honor Roll and the volleyball team had the next highest percentage for women's sport with 75-percent of the team recognized. On the men's side, men's cross country had 57-percent of their roster make the Honor Roll with men's soccer not far behind with 56-percent of their team being recognized. Overall, an impressive 44% of Stonehill's student-athletes finished out their semester with GPAs equal to or higher than a 3.20.

Among the 192 student-athletes named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll, eight achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average, seven of which did so during their team's season. Earning the highest of honors while in season were men's cross country freshman Evan Kennedy, women's cross country sophomore Samantha Curtin, football junior Michael Curtin, men's soccer junior Daniel Pereira, women's soccer freshman Julia Sisti, volleyball junior Rachel Dunlavy, and ice hockey senior Kyle Paquette. Baseball's sophomore Jared Brooks, was also among the eight perfect GPAs.

Out of the 14 student-athletes on the men's cross-country team, eight of them earned their spot on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll. Among them, senior cross-country and track & field student-athlete, Alexander Demeule showed excellence both in the classroom and on the track. He was named to the CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-District first team while finishing in the top 20 in six of his meets. Demeule, as a three-sport student-athlete, has been named to the NE10 Academic All-Conference team four times, as well earning the USTFCCCA Academic Award three times. During last year's outdoor track and field season, Demeule placed in the top 10 of nine meets as well as being named Indoor All-American for the distance medley relay team. As a Finance major, Demeule earned a 3.84 GPA this semester to start off his last year in the Purple and White.

Volleyball's junior libero Rachel Dunlavy achieved an honor roll worthy GPA of a perfect 4.00 this fall. Dunlavy has achieved a 4.0 GPA four out the five semesters. She appeared in all 22 matches this fall and was named Libero of the Week once. This season, Dunlavy was tabbed on the CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-District First Team and is just the second Stonehill College volleyball honoree in program history. The junior economics major finished the season averaging 4.25 digs per set, a career high, and has been named to the NE10 Commissioner's and Athletic Director's Honor Rolls in each semester at Stonehill over her career.


Lastra was named NE10 Athlete of the Year for the cross country season, while earning a 3.82 this semester

Cross-country and track field junior Anna Lastra was tabbed on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll after earning a 3.82 GPA as a Health Science major. Lastra was also named NE10 Athlete of the Year for the cross-country season after winning her first individual title, leading the team to their 17th NE10 Championship in program history. The junior was also named to the NCAA Division II All-East Region Team for the eighth time over the three seasons and NE10 All-Conference honors 10 times.

With 21 intercollegiate sports, Stonehill boasts one of the top athletic and academic programs in the country. In addition to finishing in the top three of the Northeast-10 Conference Presidents' Cup standings for overall athletic performance 14 straight years, the Skyhawks have received the NCAA Division II Presidents' Award for Academic Achievement each of the first eighth years of the program's existence of honoring institutions with an Academic Success Rate (ASR) of 90-percent or better. Stonehill has earned a 96% Academic Success Ranking (ASR) by the NCAA, which considers the academic success rate of the institution based on the graduation rate of student-athletes, good for seventh among all NCAA Division II institutions, with eight Skyhawk teams receiving a perfect rating of 100%. In addition, the Skyhawks are ranked 11th in the National Collegiate Scouting Association (NCSA) Power Rankings for Division II used to assess the academic and athletic standards of all NCAA and NAIA athletic programs.
