Dig Pink

This week at Stonehill:

We hosted our Dig Pink: Dig for the Cure weekend!

Our volleyball team hosted two matches this past weekend against Assumption and St. Michael's to promote awareness of and raise money for the fight against breast cancer!

Contributions benefited the Side-Out Foundation, established in 2004 to promote breast cancer awareness, education, and fundraising through volleyball.

Fans were able to contribute a fixed donation, or pledge an amount per dig recorded by the Stonehill team or an individual player. The team gave away pink ribbons and wristbands as a symbol of support.

Fans also showed their support by wearing PINK!! Here are the Thompson and Johnson families decked out in their pink attire:

This week we were so lucky to have many of our Skyhawk family members come visit from far and wide.

Andrea’s brother, David Wirth, and family friend Kevin Cach came from Arizona and Oregon:

Here are the Fitzgeralds, hailing from Winfield, Illinois:

The Huseltons travelled from Penfield, New York to support Stonehill:

And the Kellys came all the way from Tinley Park, Illinois:

Opponents: We’re 6-0 in conference after this week, and we have three matches this coming week. On Tuesday we travel to face American International. Friday afternoon we head to New York to play Pace on Friday night and Adelphi on Saturday.

What we’re listening to: “I Like It,” Enrique Iglesias

Quote of the Week: “You dug so many balls you almost made it to China.” - Justine Thompson’s grandpa

Random Fact of the Week: Erin Johnson went skydiving with two friends, members of the Skyhawk women’s soccer team, while studying abroad this past March. Their adrenaline-packed excursion landed over the Swiss Alps.

Fans of the Week: Sid and Jeanie Amundson!! Coach Amundson’s parents ordered the Stonehill volleyball team our own personal wristbands! Thanks so much, we love them! As do our lucky friends who get to wear them around campus.
