Medford Mass. - The Skyhawks tasted defeat for the first time this season, losing in four sets to Tufts University 25-21, 19-25, 15-25, 21-25.  

Stonehill started off strong with a hard fought 25-21 victory in the first set.   The Jumbos however, rallied to take the last three sets and open their season with a victory. 

Freshman Michelle Thornhill (Canyon Lake, Calif.) again led the team in kills with nine, while Sophomore Andrea Wirth (Mesa, Ariz.) offered up 32 assists.  Sophomore's Laura Noonan (Hampstead, N.H.) and Erin Johnson (Centerville, Mass.) also hit well, collecting seven and six kills respectively. 

The Jumbos were led by Senior tri-captain Stacey Filocco's 15 kills while Junior Dena Feiger led the team with 37 assists.

The loss drops the Skyhawks to 6-1.   Stonehill next takes to action when it heads to Syracuse on Saturday, September 13 for a two day tournament, featuring Bridgeport, Caldwell, Phila. Sciences and the host squad Le Moyne.
