Easton Mass. - Stonehill used excellent hitting from sophomore Laura Noonan (Hampstead, N.H.) and freshman Michelle Thornhill (Canyon Lake, Calif.) to beat Wheaton and Connecticut College 3-0 apiece and improve to 6-0 on the season. 

Stonehill took control from the beginning in their first set on their way to a 25-14 win.  The second set saw much of the same as the Skyhawks defeated Wheaton 25-15.  In the last set Stonehill continued their good hitting, defeating the Lyons 25-13. 

Leading the attack for the Skyhawks was Laura Noonan, who recorded 11 kills on only 14 attempts. Thornhill had nine kills, while sophomore Andrea Wirth (Mesa, Ariz.) led the team with 27 assists in only two games. 

Lauren Kraus, Liana Merrill and Miranda Howitt all let the Lyons with six kills apiece, while Becca Rose added 21 assists.

The Skyhawks match against Connecticut College wasn't much different from their first, as they recorded 15 kills on 28 attempts to win the first set 25-9.  The second set was back and forth, until Stonehill pulled away late, scoring the set's last four points to win 25-21.  The final set wasn't close as the Skyhawks reeled off a 13-1 run on their way to a 25-11 win. 

Thornhill was a dual threat for Stonehill, leading the team in kills with 12 and tying for the team lead with ten digs.  Noonan meanwhile, had seven kills on nine shots and Andrea Wirth added 30 assists. 

Lauren Wise led the Camels with ten kills as they fell to 1-1 on the season. 

Stonehill returns to action when they travel to Tufts on Tuesday, September 9 with the match scheduled for 7:00 pm.
