Easton, Mass. - Senior Katherine Masson (Acushnet, Mass.) had nine kills, including the 1000th of her career as the Skyhawks took care of business, dispatching Southern New Hampshire in three sets with their best hitting performance of the season.

Stonehill hit well from the onset, but were plagued by service errors as the teams exchanged leads twice before drawing even at 15.  The Skyhawks then went on a 10-4 run to take the first set 25-19 behind freshman Michelle Thornhill's (Canyon Lake, Calif.) eight kills.

In the second set the Penman got within two early but Stonehill out hit Southern New Hampshire to take 25-18 second set victory, including Masson's 1000th kill of her career.

The Skyhawks started slowly in the final set, as the teams traded points until drawing at eight a piece.  From there Stonehill bared down, outscoring the Penman 17-8 over the match's final 25 points.

Thornhill hit a career high .565 in the match to go along with her 14 kills while Andrea Wirth (Mesa, Ariz.) added 32 assists, four service aces and four digs.

Masson had nine kills and became just the fifth player in school history to record 1000 kills in a career.

With the win Stonehill improves to 16-9 and guarantees their first winning record since 1997.  They also improve to 4-5 in the NE-10 with their fourth straight conference victory.

The Skyhawks return to action when they travel to take on conference leader Merrimack on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
