Skyhawks Overwhelm Eagles In Three Sets

Easton, Mass. - Behind well placed hits and good passing, the Skyhawks took care of business, swiftly beating Post in three sets on Tuesday night. 

The Skyhawks hit well from the onset, jumping out a 3-0 lead and not allowing the Eagles to come within two points the rest of the way, including three kills by freshman Anna Barczak (Ridgefield, Conn.) to end the first set 25-17. 

Stonehill used good serves and excellent hitting in the second set as they recorded 13 kills with just two errors on 33 attempts for a 25-14 second set victory. 

In the final set the Skyhawks dominated play once more hitting five service aces and forcing 10 Post errors as they won easily 25-9. 

Freshman Laura Huselton (Penfield, N.Y.) had ten kills and eight digs for Stonehill, while Katherine Masson (Acushnet, Mass.) added eight kills.  

On defense the Skyhawks were led by Justine Thompson (Merrimack, N.H.) and Therese Mance (Milwaukee, Wis.), who had 11 digs apiece.  Andrea Wirth (Mesa, Ariz.) added 34 assists and three service aces for Stonehill. 

With the win, the Skyhawks improve to 13-9.  Stonehill returns to action when they travel to Vermont to take on St. Michael's on Friday at 7:00 pm.
