Pleasentville, N.Y. - The Skyhawks won a tough first set and carried that momentum into the final two sets, sweeping the fifth seed AIC and advancing to the semifinals of the Northeast-10 tournament on Friday evening at Pace University.

The first set saw the Yellow Jackets and Stonehill trade points throughout the set, before drawing even at 13 apiece.  From there the Skyhawks went on an 11 to seven run to come within a point of closing out the first set.

AIC wouldn't be denied as they scored the next four points to tie it up at 24.  However, the Skyhawks didn't give up and came back to take the set 28-26.

In the second, Stonehill took a lead at 2-1 and didn't look back holding the Yellow Jackets to a .056 attack percentage as they cruised to a 25-15 victory in the set.

The Skyhawks made sure AIC didn't make a run in the final set, recording 14 kills and just three errors on their way to a 25-19 third set victory and a trip to the NE-10 semifinals.

Freshman Anna Barczak (Ridgefield, Conn.) controlled the net for the Skyhawks with a team high three blocks, .435 attack percentage and 11 kills while fellow freshman Michelle Thornhill (Canyon Lake, Calif.) had a team high 12 kills, 13 digs and three service aces.

Libero Therese Mance (Milwaukee, Wis.) had 15 digs and Andrea Wirth (Mesa, Aiz.) added 33 assists and 11 digs for the Skyhawks who improved to 21-10.

Stonehill returns to action on Saturday when they square off against first seed New Haven, which undefeated in conference play this year, at 2 p.m.
