Skyhawks Clip Eagles, 3-0

North Easton, Mass. - One match past the halfway point of the 2007 Stonehill women's volleyball season and the Skyhawks have already matched last year's win total.

Behind 31 assists from Andrea Wirth (Mesa, Ariz.) and 10 kills from Katherine Masson (Acushnet, Mass.), Stonehill jumped out to early leads in each game and cruised to a 3-0 win over visiting Post University, collecting their fifth victory of the season on Monday night at Merkert Gymnasium.

The Skyhawks used their imposing front line of defenders to continuously reject Eagle attempts, totaling six solo blocks and six block assists to help an effective offensive attack.

After winning game one, 30-21, Stonehill jumped out to leads of 13-4 and 18-9 in game two behind Masson and Wirth. Masson recorded five of her kills and Wirth racked up 11 assists in that frame alone, leading to the 30-18 win.

Game three saw more of the same, as leads of 12-8 and 20-10 evolved into a 30-16 win. Stonehill recorded five service aces in the finishing game and freshman Laura Noonan (Hampstead, N.H.) provided the firepower, notching four of her five match kills during the win.

The Skyhawks (5-11), now winners of four of their last six and two in a row, travel to head coach Eric Snyder's alma mater, Southern New Hampshire, for a Wednesday match with the Penwomen
