EASTON, Mass.-- Junior Rebekah Saunders (Gilford, N.H.) and sophomore Katherine Masson (Acushnet, Mass.) each notched 13 kills to lead Stonehill to a 3-0 Northeast-10 Conference volleyball victory over Southern Connecticut by game scores of 30-26, 30-26 and 30-24 in a league match played Saturday afternoon at Merkert Gymnasium.

Masson added seven digs and a pair of blocks for the host Skyhawks (5-21, 3-10 Northeast-10), who presented Head Coach Brad Alexander with the victory in his final collegiate home match. Sophomore Jackie Foster (Arlington, Mass.) chipped in with eight kills on the day for Stonehill, which also received seven kills and four solo blocks from sophomore Heidi Woerner (North Kingstown, R.I.) as well as 37 set assists from freshman Kristen Hordern (Swansea, Mass.).

Sophomore Lauren Coombs (Trumbull, Conn.) posted 10 kills and eight digs in the setback for the visiting Owls (10-19, 4-10 Northeast-10), who also received nine kills, seven digs and five solo blocks from sophomore Nekane Mendizabal (Stratford, Conn.). Sophomore Maria Arenas (Stratford, Conn.) added 18 set assists and seven digs as well for Southern Connecticut on the day.

Stonehill closes out its 2006 schedule on Tuesday evening when the Skyhawks head to Waltham, Mass. to take on rival Bentley in a Northeast-10 outing that begins at 7:30 p.m., while Saturday's match was the season finale for Southern Connecticut.
