EASTON, Massachusetts (October 9, 2019) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team has earned a No. 19 ranking in the United Soccer Coaches' National Poll following week five of competition, as announced by the association on Tuesday.

Stonehill's highest ranking of No. 4 came in 1999 and most recently 2016. In 1999, the Skyhawks ended the season 17-3-0 and in 2016, Stonehill wrapped up the season 15-6-1, Northeast-10 Conference champions and they received their first bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Stonehill, currently 8-2-1 overall and 6-1-1 in NE10 play, has totaled three shutouts over the season to NE10 opponents. They have also defeated two ranked opponents including No. 18 Franklin Pierce University, 4-1, and No. 21 Southern New Hamsphire University, 5-2. This was the first time that the program has had two wins over ranked opponents in the same season since 2016 with a 1-0 shutout over No. 20 LIU Post and edging No. 5 Adelphi University, 4-3.

Currently, Stonehill has three Skyhawks with double-digit points, including junior Kayla Henry leading the way with 14 points with five goals and four assists. Sophomores Megan Giambanco and Camryn Thompson each have 12 points, while Giambanco has five goals and two assists and Thompson leads the team with six goals.

Stonehill's defense has been a key reason for their success, as they have averaged a 0.88 goals against average and have only allowed 10 goals in 11 games.

Stonehill heads south to face two out of region teams for non-conference play, with its first game on Friday, October 11 as they battle Lynn University with a 6:00 p.m. start, and follow that with a game on Monday, October 14 as they play Barry University also at 6:00 p.m.
