WEST HAVEN, Conn. (October 14, 2015) – Stonehill College played to a scoreless draw against the University of New Haven Chargers in Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer action at Kayo Field this evening.

Playing in their second consecutive overtime match, Stonehill couldn't find the back of the net, settling for a double overtime scoreless draw. Both teams had plenty of scoring opportunities but each keeper came up big, and with a little help from their post and crossbar, kept the match scoreless.

Junior goalkeeper Jamie Block (Georgetown, Massachusetts/Georgetown) recorded her fifth shutout of the season, turning away five shots in the contest. New Haven's sophomore Deandra Nash (Deer Park, New York / Deer Park) posted her third shutout on the year, collecting nine saves.

The first scoring opportunity for Stonehill came in the 32nd minute when sophomore Meredith Moore (Salem, Connecticut/East Lyme) rifled a shot off of the post and out of danger. The Skyhawks looked to have the game winner in the first overtime when junior Andrea Mancuso (Highland Mills,New York/Cornwall Central) collected a pass in the six yard box and one timed a point-blank shot at Nash. The New Haven keeper was at the right place at the right time, as the shot hit her squarely in the chest where she was able to corral the danger.

New Haven had its fair share of scoring opportunities as well. The Chargers managed to hit the crossbar twice in the span of five minutes in the second half, putting heavy pressure on Stonehills back line. In the 58th minute senior Marisa Garcia (Babylon, New York/Babylon) played a corner kick into the middle of the box, where teammate Shannon Enright (Ashford, Connecticut/E.O. Smith) attacked the ball, heading it off of the crossbar and out of bounds.

New Haven out-shot Stonehill on the evening, 15-13, but the Skyhawks enjoyed a 9-5 advantage in shots on goal.
