BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. (September 17, 2011) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team defeated Pace University, 1-0, in overtime in Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) action on Saturday afternoon on the road.

Sophomore midfielder Casey Mathews (Mattapoisett, Mass./Old Rochester Regional) tallied her first goal of the season off of a corner kick from teammate Maddie Manning (Weymouth, Mass./Weymouth) past junior goalkeeper Courtney Hagen (New Paltz, N.Y./New Paltz) at 94:43 to push the Skyhawks to 5-1-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the NE-10.

Stonehill sophomore goalkeeper Amy Wheaton (Dartmouth, Mass./Dartmouth) was instrumental in the win turning away eight shots for her third consecutive shutout on the season. In four games played, Wheaton has now shutout the opposition for 340-straight minutes of play compiling a 3-0-1 record during that span.

Hagen kept the Setters in the contest making 13 saves in the loss.

The Skyhawks outshot Pace, 25-17, and won the corners matchup 8-5.

Stonehill returns to action, at home, against Saint Anselm College in a NE-10 matchup starting at 4 p.m. at Skyhawk Field. The Setters (2-5, 1-4 NE-10) travel to Southern New Hampshire for a NE-10 contest beginning at 7 p.m.
