Daly Resigns to Join UNH Women’s Lax Staff

Easton, Mass.  - The only women's lacrosse coach Stonehill College has ever known is going home. Michael Daly, who guided the Skyhawks to two NCAA Championships over nine seasons, has resigned to become an assistant head coach at his alma mater, the University of New Hampshire.

"This is a tremendous loss for not only the women's lacrosse program and the Department of Athletics, but Stonehill College as well," said Stonehill Director of Athletics, Paula Sullivan.

Daly departs Stonehill after compiling an impressive resume, including a 140-27 (.838 winning percentage) overall record, two national championships, nine consecutive Northeast-10 Conference regular season championships, eight undefeated conference seasons, eight straight conference tourney titles (2000-07) and an active 68-game NE-10 Conference winning streak.

"Michael has been a tremendous leader of the women's lacrosse program here at Stonehill, and has taken to the program from its infancy to national prominence and success," continued Sullivan.

He was named IWLCA Division II National Coach of the Year three times (1999, 2003, 2005) and Northeast-10 Conference Coach of the Year on six different occasions, including five straight from 2002-2006.

In addition to his coaching duties, Daly served as Assistant Director of Athletics, an academic advisor and was also involved with the NCAA LifeSkills program and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Daly earned a B.A. in Communication and Business Administration at UNH in 1990, then received a master's degree ('94) and MBA ('96) from Northeastern University.

He joins a UNH women's lacrosse program that has advanced to the America East tournament 10 consecutive years under the guidance of longtime head coach Sandy Bridgeman.

"I am grateful to Michael for all that he has done on behalf of Stonehill College, and most importantly, the student-athletes in his program over the past nine seasons," said Sullivan.

A national search for Daly's replacement will begin immediately.
