Scott Smith is in his second year as assistant coach of the Stonehill College women's basketball program. Smith is in his first season as recruiting coordinator following his recent promotion from head coach Trisha Brown.

Smith has eight years of collegiate coaching experience, having joined Stonehill following four years as assistant women's basketball coach at NE-10 rival Merrimack College. He served as the program's recruiting coordinator and was responsible for all areas of scouting, scheduling, and team academic performance. The Warriors made three appearances in the Northeast-10 Conference tournament during Smith's time at Merrimack, and in 2010 claimed their highest conference finish in five years with a tenth-place result.

Prior to Merrimack, Smith spent three years as an assistant women's basketball coach at Guilford College, located in Greensboro, N.C., where he also oversaw the development of Guilford's cross country program and spent two years as the team's first head coach. Additionally, he was a head coach at the high school level for six years, leading the Holy Cross (Ky.) High School girls' team to two regional championships while also teaching in the social studies department.

Smith graduated from Shippensburg University in 1995 with a Bachelor's Degree in education, and received his Master's Degree in kinesiology from Indiana University in 1997. In addition to his high school and collegiate coaching experience, he has also served as a coach and administrator at numerous basketball camps and summer leagues in New England.
