Simonds Named Northeast-10 Player of the Week

South Easton, Mass. - Junior Kelsey Simonds (Middleboro, Mass.) has been named Northeast-10 Player of the Week for the second time this season it was announced by the Conference office on Monday afternoon.

In Stonehill's lone game last week, Simonds pumped in a career-high 30 points, grabbed a season-high 16 rebounds and swatted away a career-high seven blocks in the Skyhawks' thrilling 87-82 four-overtime win over Bentley on Wednesday.

The game, which was the longest in school history, saw Simonds score 22 points after halftime and nine in the fourth extra session including the final seven for Stonehill.

The honor marks the fourth time in her career that she has received the award and is the second straight Skyhawk to collect the honor after sophomore Emily Rousseau (Biddeford, Maine) won the award last week.

Through the first 20 games of the season, Simonds is averaging 15.8 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game.

Stonehill, sitting at No. 15 in the most recent release of the ESPN/USA Today Division II Coaches Poll, is 17-3 overall and 12-3 in the Northeast-10.

The Skyhawks return to action on Wednesday when they head to Franklin Pierce for a first-place showdown with the Ravens, a team they defeated 76-63 back on November 22.
