EASTON, Mass.-- Freshman Megan Methven (Corning, N.Y.) matched her career-high with 15 points, including four three-pointers, as Stonehill presented Head Coach Trisha Brown with her 100th career victory in posting a 66-42 Northeast-10 Conference women's basketball triumph over Southern New Hampshire Tuesday evening at Merkert Gymnasium.

The host Skyhawks (4-0, 1-0) jumped out to a quick 14-3 lead just 6:56 into the contest and built that margin to 20 points (36-16) with 3:46 remaining in the first half on a three-pointer by senior Caitlin Kennedy (Baldwin, N.Y.), but the visiting Penmen (1-1, 0-1 Northeast-10) scored the final eight points of the half to trail 36-24 at the break and whittled their deficit further to eight points (42-34) with 15:11 to play on a lay-in by sophomore Stephanie Houghton (Manchester, N.H.). Stonehill used an 18-4 run over the next seven-plus minutes to grab a 22-point cushion with 7:53 remaining on a Methven three-pointer and extended that margin to as much as 26 points in the closing minutes of action, as Southern New Hampshire scored just eight points over the final 15 minutes.

Kennedy added 13 points, eight rebounds and three steals in the win for the Skyhawks, who also received 12 points, seven boards and five assists from senior Tiffany Huggins (Stoughton, Mass.). Senior Kim Morast (Bridgewater, Mass.) and sophomore Bethany Tighe (North Easton, Mass.) combined for 15 points and nine rebounds for the winners, who also received six points, five assists and four steals from junior Erika Stupinski (Topsham, Maine) as well as seven rebounds from junior Meghan Driscoll (Bridgewater, Mass.). Stonehill connected for 11 three-pointers on the night and outscored Southern New Hampshire by a 33-3 margin from behind the arc to present the career milestone win for Brown, who stands at 100-51 in her sixth season with the Skyhawks.

Houghton was the lone Penmen in double figures with 10 points and seven rebounds, as junior Brooke Lefort (Cumberland, R.I.) added eight points for the visitors, who also received seven rebounds from freshman Julia Houghtaling (Franconia, N.H.). Both teams shot 36 percent from the field for the night, and while Southern New Hampshire held a 42-38 rebounding edge, the Penmen committed 28 turnovers, including 14 Stonehill steals, as the Skyhawks won for the 25th time in 31 series meetings between the two schools.

Stonehill hosts Concordia (N.Y.) as part of the Northeast-10/East Coast Conference Challenge on Sunday afternoon at Merkert Gymnasium beginning at 2:00 p.m., while Southern New Hampshire heads to Syracuse, N.Y. on Sunday afternoon to take on LeMoyne in a Northeast-10 match-up at 1:30 p.m.
