The visiting Skyhawks (7-1, 3-1 Northeast-10) raced out to a 19-10 lead midway through the opening half before the host Greyhounds (2-6, 1-4 Northeast-10) scored 15 of the final 21 points over the last 9:46 of play to grab a 25-23 lead at the break. Assumption extended that advantage to six points on three occasions in the first 5:35 following intermission, the last coming at 35-29 with 14:25 to play, but Stonehill responded with a 13-2 run over a 5:12 stretch to take a five point lead at 42-37 on a jumper by junior Daryl Cioffi (New Milford, N.J.) with 9:13 remaining. The Greyhounds responded with a quick 7-2 run to tie the game at 44-44 with 6:15 to play, but the Skyhawks reeled off seven unanswered points to take the lead for good, with Methven adding three free throws in the final 3:46 to ice matters after the hosts closed to within three with 1:48 to play.

Seniors Alisha Collins (Port Chester, N.Y.) and Kim Morast (Bridgewater, Mass.) each chipped in with eight points in the win for Stonehill, which also received seven points from senior Caitlin Kennedy (Baldwin, N.Y.) and six points and four assists from Cioffi. The Skyhawks shot 41 percent from the field and connected for six three-pointers to overcome 26 turnovers, as the visitors held a 34-26 rebounding edge and a 14-10 scoring advantage at the foul line in posting their third straight and 42nd victory in 56 series meetings between the schools.

The Greyhounds shot 40 percent from the field overall but just 14 percent (2-14) from behind the arc for the evening, as the hosts committed 22 turnovers as well.
