Northeast-10 Weekly Notes:

STONEHILL: After receiving votes in the USA Today/ESPN/WBCA Division II national poll over the first two weeks of the season, Stonehill cracked the WBCA Top 25 on December 20th for the first time since March 2003 in entering the national rankings at the #25 position. The Skyhawks finished the 2002-2003 campaign ranked 25th nationally in Division II after reaching the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. With the Skyhawk men also ranked nationally (#24 in the NABC poll), Stonehill is the only Northeast-10 school to currently have both its men's and women's programs nationally ranked. Stonehill's current 11-game winning streak is its longest since the Skyhawks began the 1994-95 Final Four season with 13 straight victories. Stonehill's 11-0 start is its best since the '94'-'95 team's 13-0 beginning to a 30-win season. The December 19th win over Saginaw Valley State enabled Stonehill to reach the double-digit mark in the win column for the 29th straight season, as the Skyhawks recorded their 10th victory before the turn of the New Year for the first time since December 1994. Monday's win at Merrimack was Stonehill's 49th in 56 series meetings with the Warriors. Sophomore G Erika Stupinski (Topsham, Maine) tied the Skyhawk single-game record for assists by dishing out 15 helpers in the December 19th win over Saginaw Valley State. Stupinski now shares the record with former Stonehill standouts Chris Donovan and Denise West. Freshman F Kelsey Simonds (Bridgewater, Mass.) scored a career-high 22 points in the win over Saginaw Valley State, while junior G Tiffany Huggins (Stoughton, Mass.) notched her third career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in Monday's triumph at Merrimack...Stonehill hosts 16th-ranked American International in a showdown for first place in the league standings on Thursday evening in Easton, as both teams enter the contest with identical 11-0 overall and 6-0 Northeast-10 marks. The game will be webcast live and is available at www.stonehillskyhawks.com.
