MANCHESTER, N.H.-- Junior Alisha Collins (Port Chester, N.Y.) notched a double-double effort of 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead three players in double figures as Stonehill continued its best start in 10 years with a 62-49 Northeast-10 Conference women's basketball victory over Saint Anselm Wednesday evening at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.

Collins, the reigning Northeast-10 Player of the Week, netted 10 points in the opening half of action for the visiting Skyhawks, who are 6-0 overall for the first time since December 1995 in improving to 3-0 in Northeast-10 play with the triumph, as Stonehill shot 50 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes of play in jumping out to a 28-18 advantage at the break. The Skyhawks netted the first hoop of the second half before the host Hawks (2-4, 0-4 Northeast-10) scored 10 straight points to slice their deficit to a bucket at 30-28 with just under 17 minutes to play, but Stonehill responded with a 15-2 run of its own over the next 6:40 to take a 15-point edge at 45-30 and maintained that double-digit advantage over the final 10-plus minutes of action.

Junior Kim Morast (Bridgewater, Mass.) chipped in with a season-high 14 points and eight assists in the win for Stonehill, which also received 10 points off the bench from junior Tiffany Huggins (Stoughton, Mass.). Freshman Kelsey Simonds (Bridgewater, Mass.), the reigning Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week, added eight points and nine rebounds off the bench for the Skyhawks, who shot 39 percent from the field but held a 44-31 rebounding advantage (15-10 on the offensive glass) to overcome 24 turnovers in posting their sixth straight win in the series with Saint Anselm dating back to January 2002. The visitors canned all 17 of their free throws after intermission as well.

Junior Jessica Morgan (West Lebanon, N.H.) was the lone player in double figures for Saint Anselm with 10 points, as junior Christina Buckley (Levittown, N.Y.) and freshman Justine Lyons (Reading, Mass.) each netted nine points in the sbetack for the Hawks, who shot 32 percent from the field for the evening while committing 23 turnovers.

Stonehill hosts LeMoyne in a Northeast-10 outing on Saturday afternoon at Merkert Gymnasium beginning at 1:30 p.m., while Saint Anselm heads to Waltham, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to take on Bentley in a Northeast-10 match-up that also begins at 1:30 p.m.
