Collins Named As ECAC Division II Women's Basketball Player Of Year, Earns WBCA Honorable Mention All-America Accolades

Stonehill College's Alisha Collins Named 2006 ECAC Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Year

Cape Cod, Massachusetts -- The ECAC has announced the 2006 Division II Women's Basketball All-Star team.

The Stonehill College Skyhawks' junior forward Alisha Collins has been tabbed as the ECAC Division II Women's Player of the Year by a vote of ECAC coaches. Collins, the Northeast-10 Player of the Year averaged 18.1 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. She led the Skyhawks to a 24-7 overall record, a second place conference finish (17-5), and the NCAA semi-finals. Collins also earned a spot on the 2006 Daktronics NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Northeast Region All-American Team and was an Honorable Mention All-America selection of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.

In addition to being named this year's Player of the Year, Collins also earns a spot on the first-team. Joining her is Joelle Martin of Merrimack, Megan Bauer of Holy Family, American International's senior center Sharmion

Selman and New Haven's junior forward Ashley Hilton.

The ECAC honored five additional student-athletes on the second-team. USP's Leah Shumoski, Southern Connecticut State's Shamika Jackson, Shelby Rance of USP, Pam Karagiorgos of Concordia and Assumption's Charde Floyd

have all been named to the second-team.
