Taxter aims to pick up a fourth All-Conference honor as he was the runner-up at last years' Championship

EASTON, Massachusetts (October 24, 2019) - The Stonehill College men's cross country team, ranked No. 3 in the East Regional U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA), seeks its 10th Northeast-10 Conference Championship, this Sunday, October 27 at Jamesville Beach Park in Jamesville, New York, hosted by Le Moyne College. The women will kick off the Championship with a start time of 11:00 a.m. followed by the men at 12:15 p.m.

In the coaches' pre-championship poll, Southern Connecticut State University, who earned their first NE10 Championship was voted to repeat as champions this year receiving 159 points and nine first-place votes. American International College, who was edged by the Skyhawks in last year's race, tied with Stonehill for second with 152 points, while the Yellow Jackets tallied five first-place votes. Southern New Hampshire University (138 points) and Franklin Pierce University (120 points) rounded out the top five teams.

At last year's championship, the men totaled four All-Conference honors, including returners senior All-American Lucas Taxter who was on the first team and sophomore Nickolas McNamee who tallied third team honors. Taxter finished second in the eight-kilometer race last year for his highest mark thus far, as he collected his third All-Conference honors last year. McNamee received his first All-Conference honor after finishing 21st in his first appearance at the NE10 Championship.

Juniors Jeff Pichie and Kevin Wheelock will race in their third NE10 Championship, where both just shyly missed out on making the All-Conference team last year, but both have a recognition from their freshman year under their belt.

Three freshman will make their first appearance at the NE10 Championship, including Colin Black, Andrew Janus, and Reilly Johnston. Johnston was tabbed as the NE10 Rookie of the Week in early October for his appearance at the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University.
