Owls Overpower Skyhawks

New Haven, Conn. – The Owls scored early
and scored late on their way to a 5-0 victory over the Skyhawks on
Wednesday night to drop Stonehill to 4-7-2 overall and 1-7-1 in
NE-10 play.
SCSU wasted little time in getting on the board as Paul Templeton
headed home a cross from Ancil Farrier for an early 1-0 lead less
than 10 minutes into the game.
The Owls controlled much of the first half, including a 4-1
advantage in the shots on goal category, as they took a 1-0 lead
into halftime.
The Skyhawks again allowed a quick goal in the beginning of the
second have as freshman Daniel Goldberg scored his second goal of
the season just two minutes into the period.
SCSU kept on the pressure, as Templeton scored his second goal of
the game in the 72nd off a pass from Jeremy Tavares, five the Owls
a three goal lead.
Two minutes later, Djordje Jankovic tacked on another SCSU goal
and Farrier concluded the scoring in the 78th minute off a Jankovic
corner.
Junior keeper Brian Guerrini (Glastonbury, Conn.)
tallied six saves in the loss for the Skyhawks, who managed just
one shot on goal in each half.
Stonehill returns to action when travel to take on St Rose at 1:00
pm.
