FOXBORO, Mass. (November 14, 2017) – Stonehill College never trailed in picking up its first win of the season with a 4-2 triumph over Southern New Hampshire University in Northeast-10 Conference ice hockey action at the Foxboro Sports Center tonight.

Sophomore Cameron Wright (West Dummerston, Vermont/Springfield Pics USPHL Premier) led four different goal scorers for Stonehill with a goal and assist, providing a third period insurance goal to seal the Skyhawks first win of the season. Senior Brendan White (North Reading, Massachusetts/Kimball Union Academy) and sophomores Conor Cassidy (Wilmington, Delaware/Canterbury and Kents Hill) and Connor Jewett (Berlin, New Hampshire/NH Junior Monarchs EHL Premier) also netted goals for Stonehill in the contest.

Junior goaltender Billy Palmer (Cranston, Rhode Island/Boston Bandits EHL Premier) preserved the win with 29 saves in the Stonehill goal, including 14 in a scoreless third period to seal the win. Senior Ryan Slatky (Manchester, New Hampshire/Bridgton Academy) registered 19 saves in the Southern New Hampshire goal.

Senior Kyle Valliere (Goffstown, New Hampshire/New Hampton School) and freshman Kyle Gallaway (Sugar Hill, Georgia/Boston Junior Rangers) each had a hand in both SNHU goals with a goal and assist apiece.


Palmer tallied 14 of his 29 saves in the third period to close out the win.

Stonehill jumped out to a two-goal lead in the first period with a pair of markers four minutes apart. Cassidy opened the scoring with his second of the year off a feed from Wright on a delayed penalty at 13:03. White doubled the Skyhawks lead at 16:59 off a feed from sophomore Ryan Meade (Tewksbury, Massachusetts/Tilton School) and freshman Nick Schofield (Foxboro, Massachusetts/Williston Northampton) for his first goal of the year, with Schofield notching is first collegiate point.

SNHU pulled a goal back just before the intermission with Valliere potting his first goal of the year at 17:42, assisted by Galloway and junior Artem Efimov-Barakov (Khimki, Russia). The Penmen pulled even 8:25 into the second with Galloway scoring off a Valliere assist.

Stonehill reclaimed the lead with a power-play goal by Jewett at 14:13, assisted by junior Thomas Mahoney (Suffern, New York/The Taft School). Wright's first goal of the season added insurance for the Skyhawks with four minutes remaining in regulation, assisted by junior Christopher Page (Winthrop, Massachusetts/Winthrop).

Stonehill (1-1-1, 1-0-1 NE10) is back in action this weekend with a two game NE10 series at Franklin Pierce University, starting Friday at 7:30 p.m. The Skyhawks return home on Saturday, December 2, to host UMass Dartmouth for a non-conference matchup at 5:10 p.m. Southern New Hampshire (0-2-1, 0-2-0 NE10) hosts Assumption College on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
