Dancin' Again: Skyhawks Return To NCAA Tournament

Indianapolis, Ind. - For the first time since 2005-06 and the ninth time in program history, the Stonehill men's basketball program is headed back to the NCAA Tournament it was announced on Sunday evening by the NCAA.

The Skyhawks, who are seeded fifth in the East Region, will face Assumption on Saturday, March 14 at a time to be determined.

C.W. Post, one of two undefeated teams left in Division II basketball, will host the regional on its Brookville, N.Y. campus as the region's top seeded team.

The Skyhawks could possibly meet the host Pioneers in the second round should both teams win their first round contest. C.W. Post hosts eighth seeded Philadelphia (25-5).

Stonehill and the Greyhounds have met 95 times before and Assumption holds a 54-41 lead including this season's 54-53 win back in December.

Twenty-two conferences have been awarded automatic qualification.  The remaining 42 teams were selected at large by the committee.

Seven of the regional tournaments, consisting of eight teams each, will be conducted March 14, 15 and 17 at regional sites. The West regional will be conducted March 13, 14 and 17.  The eight quarterfinalists will advance to the finals at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, March 25, 26 and 28.
