North Easton, Mass. - Stonehill outscored Assumption 39-20 in the second half, holding the Greyhounds to 26 percent shooting in the final 20 minutes to earn their first back-to-back wins of the season, the second coming courtesy of a 71-57 win over visiting Assumption on Tuesday at Merkert Gymnasium.

Freshman Vince Rosario (Perth Amboy, N.J.) and sophomore Randall Stallworth (Toms River, N.J.) both converted clutch second half plays as the Skyhawks eventually took control midway through the second stanza, despite shooting 6-for-25 from three point territory for the game.

Rosario, known for his three-point acumen, made two conventional three-point plays on strong drives to the basket at crucial junctures during the second half, while Stallworth's leftside fadeaway jumper sealed the game for Skyhawks with less than two minutes left.

Down 51-46 with less than nine minutes remaining, the Skyhawks embarked on a 17-4 run over the next seven and half minutes culminating with Stallworth's back-breaking jumper. During the run, Stonehill connected on two triples, had a steal and finish from Rosario and another by Matt Hall (Springfield, Mass.) and held the Greyhounds to 2-for-10 shooting.

Neither team shot well from the field with Stonehill holding a slight edge at 41 percent compared to Assumption's 38 percent, which was hurt by a 3-for-20 performance from behind the arc, including an 0-for-14 effort in the second half.

Although it was an off shooting night for Nick Smith (Colonia, N.J.), he clawed his way to a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Hall also had 12 points to lead the Skyhawks. Rosario, Stallworth and A.J. Rudowitz (Monroe Township, N.J.) all added 11 points.

Stonehill returns to action on Thursday when they travel to St. Rose for a matchup with the Golden Knights.
