Genovese Named NE-10 Goaltender of the Week

Street, Md., freshman earns first weekly honor after strong week for Skyhawks

EASTON, Mass. (October 11, 2011) – Stonehill College freshman Elizabeth Genovese (Street, Md./North Harford) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Goaltender of the Week by the league office today.

Genovese, who earns the weekly honor for the first time, posted a 1.50 goals against average and .833 save percentage while averaging 7.5 saves per game in a 1-1 week for Stonehill. She posted her first collegiate shutout with a five save performance in a 5-0 victory over Assumption College on Saturday. Genovese matched her season-high with ten stops at American International College on Tuesday.

Genovese has started eight of the 11 games she has played in her freshman season at Stonehill and has posted a 2.17 goals against average (6th NE-10) and .714 save percentage while averaging 4.6 saves per game. She has played 646:24 in the Skyhawks goal and posted a 4-4 record with the one shutout.

Stonehill (6-7, 1-4 NE-10) is back in action tomorrow when it visits Southern Connecticut State University for a Northeast-10 contest at 7 p.m. The Skyhawks return home next Tuesday, October 18, to host Saint Anselm College for an NE-10 clash at W.B. Mason Stadium at 7 p.m.
