The Game
Stonehill College looks to build some mid-season momentum as it heads to Merrimack College for a Northeast-10 Conference battle under the Saturday night lights at Martone-Mejail Field tonight. The Skyhawks are looking to build off last week's 28-14 win over Saint Anselm, while the Warriors have dropped two straight against the two unbeaten NE10 teams in the league, including a 56-7 setback at No. 24 Assumption College last Saturday.

Coach Eli Gardner and all the Stonehill coaching staff are joining coaches all over America today in wearing a patch on their left arms in honor of the American Football Coaches Association of America's (AFCA) Coach to Cure MD program. This is the 10th year coaches around the country join together to raise funds and awareness for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Fans are encouraged to donate by texting "CURE" to 50555 or visiting CoachtoCureMD.org.

Head of the Class
Senior quarterback Matt Foltz (Mount Joy, Pa.) has been named among the semifinalists for the William V. Campbell Trophy, presented by Fidelity Investments, as the National Football Foundation (NFF) and College Football Hall of Fame announced its 2017 National Scholar-Athlete candidates this week. Foltz is among an impressive list of 181 semifinalists across all levels of college football, including 30 from NCAA Division II and one of three from the Northeast-10 Conference. Foltz has earned a 3.72 cumulative grade point average as an economics major at Stonehill, with a minor in sport science and society. The two-year captain is a two-time NE10 Academic All-Conference selection, and been named to both the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll all six semesters to date, in addition to his outstanding career on the field.

They're Honored
Senior quarterback Matt Foltz (Mount Joy, Pa.), junior defensive lineman Anthony Marsilio (Tyngsboro, Mass.) and sophomore wide receiver Andrew Jamiel (Yarmouth, Mass.) were all named to the NE10's weekly honor roll on Monday for their efforts in Saturday night's 28-14 win over Saint Anselm in the 13th annual "Battle for the Ol' Bronze Hawk."
• Foltz completed 16-of-27 passes for 240 yards and three touchdowns in the win. He also rushed for a fourth touchdown that gave Stonehill a 14-0 lead five and a half minutes into the game.
• Marsilio led the Skyhawks defense with a career-high seven tackles (two solo), including a career-best 3.0 tackles for a loss of 16 yards, with a career-high 2.0 sacks for a loss of 15 and a forced fumble.
• Jamiel scored three touchdowns as he caught eight passes for a season-high 164 yard, averaging 20.5 yards per reception. He opened the game with a 55-yard shoestring catch and run for a touchdown on the opening possession of the game to stake Stonehill to a lead. He added an 11-yard touchdown catch midway through the second quarter, and then added an impressive 26-yard touchdown over a defender with 3:29 left that sealed the win.

Saturday Night Fever
Since W.B. Mason Stadium opened in 2005, night football has been a regular occurance for Stonehill, adding a new wrinkle with Saturday night games starting in 2012. The Skyhawks are 12-14 all-time under the W.B. Mason Stadium lights, including an 8-4 clip on Saturday nights after Saturday night's win over Saint Anselm.

Movin' On Up!
Sophomore flanker Andrew Jamiel (Yarmouth, Mass.) moved into seventh place on the program's career receiving yardage list against Saint Anselm last weekend. He enters tonight's game with 1,325 receiving yards in 14 career games. Jamiel surpassed 1,000 career yards receiving with his 125 yards against Southern Connecticut State in week two.

Not to be Outdone
Senior wide receiver Kevin Dick (Tewksbury, Mass.) surpassed 1,000 career recieving yards against Saint Anselm on Saturday night. Dick has 1,008 career yards on 84 receptions and enters tonight's game 106 yards shy of also cracking the program's career top ten.

Hall of Fame
Stonehill's 1970 club football team will be honored for its contributions to the program as its founding members when it is inducted to the Stonehill Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, November 3.

Happy Anniversary
Stonehill welcomed back all of its football alumni for its annual Alumni Game on September 23, but the College hold a special recognition for the program's varsity alums as the 2017 season marks the 30th varsity season for the program. Stonehill shifted its club football program to varsity status in 1988.

Preseason Prognostications
Stonehill has been picked to finish sixth in the Northeast-10 according to the Conference's preseason coaches poll released last month. The NE10's d2football.com blogger Paul Falewicz has a much more high presaeson opinion of the Skyhawks by picking them third in his preseason NE10 poll.

Aye, Aye Captains
Seniors Matt Foltz (Mount Joy, Pa.) and Nick Bona (Peabody, Mass.), as well as junior John Ejiofor (Burlington Township, N.J.) have been selected to serve as team captains for the 2017 season. Foltz returns as captain for the second straight year, while Bona and Ejiofor were also elected by their teammates and coaching staff. It marks the second straight year the Skyhawks have had a junior captain after Foltz was the first since 1999 to do so a year ago.

On Deck
The entire Northeast-10 Conference will enjoy a league-wide bye week next weekend and Stonehill will head back out on the road on Saturday, October 14, to visit the University of New Haven at 1 p.m., before returning home on Saturday, October 21, to host rival Bentley University for an NE10 matchup as part of Family Weekend at the College at 6 p.m.
