EASTON, Mass. (October 9, 2018) – The Stonehill College women's cross country team's freshman Rebecca Erhard (Wenham, Massachusetts/Hamilton Wenham) was named Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league today.

The women's team is currently ranked first in the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches' Association East Regional poll and tabbed 24th in the national poll.

On Saturday, the Skyhawks competed at the New England Championships, where the women's squad posted a fifth-place finish among 24 teams at Franklin Park in Boston, Massachusetts. This finish was the best mark since 2015 when the Skyhawks placed fourth.

Erhard was the second Skyhawk to cross the finish line at the meet, where she clocked in a time of 18:56.8, good for 28th out of 168 competitors. The Wenham, Massachusetts native was the sixth freshman to cross the finish line in the five-kilometer race, about a minute shy of the individual winner from Tufts University, Natalie Bettez.

The freshman previously finished third with a time of 23:44.6 at the six-kilometer Division II/III Challenge in Kutztown, Pennsylvania and 38th at the Shawn M. Nassaney Memorial Invitational with a time of 19:16.1 at the five-kilometer race.

Stonehill will take a week off before competing at the Sixth Annual Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup, in Hopkinton, New Hampshire, hosted by Franklin Pierce University on Saturday, October 20.
