Curtin was the third Skyhawk across the finish at New England Championship
Northeast 10 Cross Country Report: Week 6
EASTON, Mass. (October 10, 2017) – Stonehill College's women's cross country freshman Sam Curtin (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) was named Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday morning.
Curtin appeared in her first-collegiate championship this past weekend at Franklin Park in the New England Championships. She placed 58th with a time of 19:11.5 among 194 competitors, assisting the Skyhawks to a 10th-place finish. The Plymouth, Massachusetts native was the third Purple & White and ninth freshman to cross the finish line in the varsity division.
Previously, Curtin placed in the top-20 at the three other meets this season. In her first race, she placed a career-high fifth-place in the Shacklette Invitational with a time of 19:45 in the five-kilometer race. Most recently she finished 18th at the Codfish Bowl and then 10th at the Division II/III Challenge in the six-kilometer race.
Curtin is a 2017 graduate of Plymouth North High School and she competed in both cross country and track and field. She was named to the All-Academic Cross Country team during her career.
Stonehill takes a weekend off before heading to Westfield, Massachusetts to compete in the NE10 Championship at Stanley Park, hosted by American International College on Sunday, October 22.
