Senior earns award after winning Shacklette Invitational
EASTON, Mass. (September 10, 2013) – Stonehill College senior Elizabeth LaRegina (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Cross Country Women's Athlete of the Week, following her first place finish at the Shacklette Invitational. LaRegina's time of 19:03.6 is a career best, topping the time of 19:18.65 that she ran at last year's New England Championships.
LaRegina, a 2012 Capital One Academic All-District I first team member, was the first of six Stonehill runners that finished in the top ten at the Shacklette Invitational, as the Skyhawks won the event for the third consecutive year.
Stonehill, ranked 19th overall by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II national poll and first in the East Regional Poll, return to action this Saturday, September 14 at the Division II/Division III Challenge, hosted by Kutztown University.
