Stonehill Places Six in Top 10, Wins Shacklette Invitational


Senior Elizabeth LaRegina won the individual title at today's Shacklette Invitational, marking the second-straight year a Skyhawk has placed first at the event.

LaRegina finishes first, pacing Stonehill to third consecutive team victory at Shacklette

Manchester, N.H. (September 7, 2013) – The Stonehill College women's cross country team, ranked 19th in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II preseason poll, and ranked first in the East Region, captured its third straight Shacklette Invitational today at Saint Anselm College.

Elizabeth LaRegina (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) finished first with a time of 19:03.6, marking the second consecutive year that a Stonehill runner has claimed the top spot. Brittany Venturo (Taunton, Mass./Coyle & Cassidy) finished in third place with a time of 19:20.1, Erin Rielly (Burlington, Mass./Burlington) came in fourth place with a time of 19:20.5, Alexandra Buonfiglio (Lynnfield, Mass/Lynnfield) came in sixth place, with a time of 19:26.4, Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North) came in eighth place, with a time of 19:32.6, and Aisha McAdams (North Kingstown, R.I./North Kingstown) came in tenth place, with a time of 19:40.9 to help Stonehill win the event.

Stonehill finished first with 22 points, followed by Saint Michael's (69 points), Merrimack (80 points), Saint Rose (98 points), and Saint Anselm (121 points).

Rounding out Stonehill's runners were freshman Nicole Ambrosecchio (Stamford, Conn./Westhill), who ran a time of 19:46.7, sophomore Molly Hellman (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven Regional), who finished 17th with a time of 20:13.1, senior Melissa Ulcena (Billerica, Mass./Billerica) , who finished in 21:19.5, and freshman Alexandra Grimaldo (Marlborough, Mass./Marlborough), who finished the course in 21:35.8.

Stonehill returns to action on Saturday, September 14th for the Division II/Division III Challenge hosted by Kutztown (Pa.) University.
