Skyhawks Finish Second At Minutemen Invitational

McBride places 16th overall to pace Stonehill to second place overall

Senior Caroline McBride led the Skyhawks with her 16th place finish overall.

AMHERST, Mass. (September 15, 2012) – The Stonehill College women's cross country team, ranked 23th overall in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA) Division II preseason poll, placed second overall out of six teams at the University of Massachusetts Amherst Minutemen Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Boston College finished first overall with 19 points, Stonehill ranked second overall with 78 points and Amherst College placed third overall with 87 points. UMass Amherst was fourth (96), Colgate checked in at fifth overall (110) and Keene State College placed sixth overall (168).

Senior captain Caroline McBride (North Reading, Mass./North Reading) posted the Skyhawks top finish of the afternoon with a time of 19:08.24 on the 5-kilometer course for 16th place overall.

Juniors Chelsea Bishop (Suffield, Conn./Suffield) and Sarah Biggers (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Lakeland) followed closely behind as Bishop finished 20th overall (19:11.25) and Biggers ranked 21st overall (19:12.17).

Sophomore Brianna Venturo (Taunton, Mass./Coyle & Cassidy) crossed the finish line in 19 minutes and 30.19-seconds for 26th place while senior Erin Carmone (Riverside, R.I./East Providence) rounded out the top-5 with a time of 19:30.98 (27th overall).

Emily Anderson (Manchester, Conn./Manchester) ranked 29th overall in a time of 19:32.39 and Emily Regan (Hanson, Mass./Whitman-Hanson Regional) placed 30th overall (19:35.21).

Stonehill returns to action on Friday, September 28 at the Paul Short Invitational, hosted by Lehigh University, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania at 10 a.m.
