Stonehill College Volleyball Drafts Amanda from Team IMPACT

Feb 24, 2020

The Stonehill Skyhawks Volleyball team added their newest member when they drafted Amanda from Team IMPACT. Head coach Craig Martin, along with sophomore Abby Remick and the rest of the team, welcomed Amanda and her family to the team on Sunday. Vertex has partnered with Team IMPACT to help match courageous kids living with rare diseases such as cystic fibrosis, as honorary, active members of college athletic teams. Each child is "signed" onto a team and becomes an official member of the team from their Draft Day through to Graduation. Just as the child joins the athletic team, the student-athletes join the child's support team. The highest level of involvement occurs during the regular season for each sport, but members of the team remain involved with the child throughout the year. While every match is different, activities range from the child attending practices and games and participating in exclusive team events, to the team participating in outings and celebrations important to the child like ice cream and pizza parties, school events, and other activities. Each match lasts approximately two to three years, though the friendships formed often last long after the official match.
